Mercia: Old English Teaching Materials

The materials below were compiled by me in the spring and summer of 2022 as part of my project on the Literary History of Mercia. The materials are intended for primary or secondary school teaching (especially English Primary School Key Stage 2). Teachers and students are welcome to download, copy and use them; no log-in is required; if you make written use of any of my materials, I'd be grateful if you could acknowledge me in your text.

I have made each area of material available for two different target audiences, for teachers on the one hand and for students on the other. The teachers' copies contain fuller materials, including answers to the set study questions as well as solutions to the riddles.

The files of materials below are presented in two different electronic formats, Microsoft Word (for easier copying and pasting) and pdf (for easier printing).

I am most indebted to my student assistant Nanda Saravanan (University of St Andrews) who compiled related teaching materials for me (not posted here yet). I am really very grateful to Heritage Officer Dr Rachel Askew (University of Leicester) for inspiring the compilation of these teaching materials and for discussing them with me.
